I have yet another confession. I love buying things for our school. Puzzles, games, manipulatives, videos...love, love, love. I'm sure this wasn't missed by any of you who read about my yard sale overload this past weekend.
The problem with loving to buy so many fun things to keep learning interesting, is that you have to find a place to store them and remember that you have them when your doing your subjects/unit study.
And there is my problem. I don't know how many times last year I would finish a unit and then remember I had a great video or game that would have been perfect for it.
Here's my solution: I started a personal family blog. No one reads it, except for Ronnie & I. And just like a regular blog, I have labels on the side to help me find what I need. As I'm organizing my schoolroom for next year, I'm photographing items and loading them onto my blog. Then I label each photo. What should happen, is that as I do my lesson plans, I can click on the label that applies and all my items for that area will pop up.
No more forgetting!
Click here to see what I have so far.
I'm also hoping to sweet talk my Aunt Lynn who works at FSU's library into helping me organize my books. I don't think I'll add these to the blog, I'll probably just group them by subject.
I think this system is going to help me avoid duplication and remember to use all the cool "extras" we have.
So what do you think? Any ideas for keeping school or kids stuff organized?

Tara
Thanks Tara!
Hi Tara, I somehow stumbled across your blog and feel like I'm reading about my own life in many ways...LOL I too have the very same game/manipulatives problem and would love to see what you've done to help organize them but I'm not able to view your labels through your link. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!
Angela
Angela, thanks for stopping by. I'm Charli actually. My friend Tara was just commenting. I think I've fixed the link. Try it again. It really does help when I'm trying to remember what I have to go with each subject. Thanks for stopping by and LMK if it's still not working.

OMG Charli...duh! I guess it would help if I paid attention..LOL I am now able to view your other blog and I must say that I'm quite impressed :-) I feel like you and I could be long lost sisters with our addiction to manipulatives..ha!ha! When you find the time, I'd love to pick your brain about this whole homeschooling journey. Is there a way that I can e-mail you off this blog? Thanks!
