Pintervention: Week 3

124.

That's how many Valentine's I have to do total for this week.

OK, maybe I'm slightly exaggerating.  I mean, Josh is filling his out on his own.  So that brings the number down by 31.

93.  Well sure, that seems more manageable.

The boys picked their own out at Walmart, but I....well I kinda fell in love with these....

I can not wait to see a whole room full of K-1 kiddos sporting big pink lips and mustaches.

Add that to the fact that I always pick up as many bags of blow pops as I can carry after Halloween on clearance and it's a home run.

Here's what I did:
Go to blonde-designs.squarespace.com and print out the template.
I actually shrunk the template down by 50%.
Then cut out your pattern and trace it onto foam.
Simply cut out, poke the sucker through and slap a tag on it.

My Valentines!

I can't wait to see my little K-1 Latin class with their big lips and handlebar mustaches.

I love it!

Thanks again Pinterest.

Valentine's Day Ideas

Valentine's Day.  A wonderful day filled with flower deliveries, shiny little baubles to wear on your ears, hands or neck, and a first class night out on the town.

Fast forward eleven years and three boys later.   I would say I definitely get more props for creativity than cash.

Turns out, Valentine's Day isn't really about shiny things and fancy nights out.  There's just as much fun to be had without breaking the bank.

Here are some of my favorite ways to make a special Valentine's Day for Big Daddy.
  • Put the kids to bed an hour early.  Luckily, mine are mostly still young enough to trick into thinking it's bedtime as long as it's dark out.  Spend some time with your husband having a special dessert for two and just talking.  Not about kids, not about bills, not about what needs to be done.  Enjoy being with him.
  • Write him a letter letting him know how much you appreciate him.  I do appreciate that he works hard to provide for our family and sacrifices to let me stay home more.
  • This builds on writing him a letter, but last year I wrote out my prayer for Ronnie for the year.  I specifically let him know what I would be praying for him daily for the next year.
  • One whole day without negativity from me.  No asking "Didn't you check that?" or my complete avoidance of subjects I tend to get snarky over (Bees anyone?)
  • Work on some good old fashioned flirting.  A little squeeze, a little wink.  Let him know he can still makes your knees go weak.
  • Make your move.  I know, it's not that kind of blog, but you know what I mean.  It's Valentine's Day for goodness sakes.  Be aggressive.  Send that man to work in the morning with a smile he can't wipe off.
I'm well aware that I'm probably the oddball when it comes to this holiday, so I'll just avoid getting on my soapbox.  However, I do feel that it's a great time to stop working in the trenches of day in day out life.  Just take a deep breath and look across the room full of toys and remember that you really are crazy about this man who is on this wild and wonderful journey with you.

And maybe instead of doing this on Valentine's Day, we can decide to do something like this just because it's Tuesday.

Now that's something to celebrate.
