What happens when I'm on the phone.....

Most of you know that we run a rental business out of our home.  We have apartments, storage units and a mobile home park.

There are times that I tell the kids they have to leave the room and be quite so I can talk on the phone.

They usually do a good job.

Thursday, they found my camera and documented what goes on in the other room while I'm on the phone:

Interesting.  Very interesting.

Good Morning

I'm on my way to Colombus today for Women of Faith.

I'm so excited to finally see Mandisa live.  I love to hear that girl sing!

Talk to you when I get back.  Have a great weekend!

Running.

I've recently dusted off the old treadmill.

I'm actually enjoying the "quiet time" when I'm on there.

I get the kids involved in a video, lace up my shoes, grab my IPOD and I'm ready.

I feel great when I'm on there.

I found this picture on Pinterest that I think sums it all up for me.

Attack of the Umbrella.

A few months back, I picked up a new umbrella.  Actually, Josh picked it out for me.  He thought the bright colors might make working in the rain a little better for me.

Today, I tried it out.

As I walked from my car to my first patient's home, I was completely dry under my giant, colorful umbrella.  Until, all of a sudden, Snap!   My umbrella completely closed on it's own and I was soaked in a matter of seconds.

At my second house of the day, I held the umbrella a little more carefully and closely.  Just as I stepped onto the porch....Snap!   The umbrella not only closed unexpectedly, the black rods on the inside got completely stuck in my ponytail.  Completely.  Stuck.

I have no doubt that seeing the nurse, who is coming to check on you and take your blood, twirling in a circle trying to get an umbrella out of her hair must be very comforting.

I caught a view of myself in their mirror as I entered the house.  I was a cross between Alice Cooper and Don King.  Raccoon eyes and crazy hair.

So, how was your day?

How (not) to clean your fridge.

I've mentioned before that I do the majority of my grocery shopping once monthly.  Of course I do have to stop from time to time to pick up something that I ran out of (usually milk, eggs and bread) or to take advantage of a great sale, but I get the bulk of my groceries at one time.

I usually clean out my fridge on trash night, but I forgot to this week.  When I got home from the store I had to do a quick clean before I could get everything put away.

Here's how I clean out my fridge, your results may vary (if your lucky).

1.  Pull your trash can close to the fridge.
2.  Start at the top and pitch anything past it's prime.
3.  Throw your food on the floor instead because you never move your trash can and apparently are so used to throwing it 18 inches across to the trash that you can't remember the can is right beside you.
4.  Pick up the food from the floor while fighting with the dogs to leave it alone.
5.  Put the dogs outside.
6.  Pick up the food (again).
7.  Finally put away your groceries.
8.  Mop the floor (because of steps 3-6).
9.  Take the not so fresh produce out to the rabbit.
10.  Realize that no one has watered the rabbit today.
11.  Go back in the house to water the rabbit.
12.  See yogurt on the freshly mopped floor.
13.  Track down the culprit.
14.  Time out for culprit.
15.  Mop the floor in front of the fridge.
16.  Realize you forgot to take the water back out to the rabbit.
17.  Pass dogs who are acting like it's 200 degrees outside and this brief time away from you may very well kill them.
18.  Let dogs back in.
19.  Finish putting away the other 27 bags of groceries.
20   Hear phone ringing and search everywhere for it.
21.  Offer gum to whoever can help you find the phone.
22.  Give up finding phone. If it's really that important, they'll call your cell.
23.  Decide to get a cup of coffee after finishing all this mess.
24.  Open fridge to get creamer and

  .....find phone!

And that's how I clean my fridge.

Pure TV Silliness.

Did anyone else hear that Dallas is coming back to TV?  I saw online that TNT has picked it up and that JR & Bobby are still going to be Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy.

Growing up, I wasn't allowed to listen to the radio or watch MTV, but by golly, we never - never - missed an episode of Dallas.  Let's face it, I would have been much better off to be listening to radio or MTV circa 1980's.  I learned all kinds of things from Dallas, a love of shoulder pads and big hair being the least of these.

FYI...we also never missed an episode of Hee Haw.  No radio, no MTV, but I could watch Dallas and Hee Haw all I wanted.  I still can't wrap my head around that one.

Yesterday at the nursing home, I told my Nan that it was coming back on next year.  Her response "Just great, I'll be dead by then.  Do you think they can make it sooner?"

I'll see what I can do Nan.

One of my recent favorite shows that I haven't watched in a while is The Office.  As funny as I think Will Ferrel is, he just didn't cut it as Michael's replacement and I quit watching.  It was recently announced that James Spader is taking over the spot.  I have to say, he's just weird enough that I'll tune in to see how it goes.

My favorite show of all, however is (don't make fun of me) Dancing with the Stars.  I really like it.  I like the costumes, the music, the dancing.  All of it.  I know the outfits are a little on the skimpy side, but really, if I was built like that, I would have had the babies dedicated while wearing one of those get ups.  It also is right before Castle, which I think is a great detective show.  Basically, I'm really hustling to get my kids to bed on time on Monday night.

I do, limit my TV watching to right before bed while I'm folding laundry....otherwise I wouldn't get anything done.  I like to DVR my favorite shows and use my watching time to catch up on laundry or lesson plans or menus....whatever.

So there you have it.  I like to watch TV.  I know the cool thing to say is that I don't watch TV because I'm too awesomely brainy, but it's just not true.  I enjoy it.

What are some of your favorite shows?
