Summer Book Club: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

If you would ask me what my favorite fiction book is, hands down, I would say Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

Set in the late 1800's in California's gold rush, this story is based on the biblical story of Hosea.  Angel, who was sold into prostitution as a child, has no use for God or men - other than what money she can get.  Michael is a Godly man, who obeys when God tells him that he is to marry Angel.  Over and over again, we see the unconditional love that Michael has for Angel.  And repeatedly, we see Angel run from it - trying to make it on her own.

It is a beautiful story of unconditional love and redemption - the same love and redemption that Christ has for each of us, no matter how many times we run and try to cling to our past life.

Obviously there are adult themes in this book.  If you've read about Hosea and Gomer in the Bible, you are already aware of that.  Despite the image on the cover, this is not a sappy romance novel.  It really is a great story and I highly recommend it.

Don't forget to check out the other bloggers - who may or may not be doing a book review!
