09 September 2013

Menu Plan Monday for September 9th.

It was a birthday spectacular this weekend!  Josh's party was a ton of fun at the fishing park and on Sunday after church we went to my niece Natalie's party.  The boys had so much fun one of the actually lost a shoe.  For real.  No joke.  Josh came home with only one shoe.  At least they were the old flip flops that were falling apart, right?

There's starting to be a bit of a nip in the air in the mornings, anyone else notice it?  It's about time for chili and soup beans and soups.  Our cow should be back any day now and I'm working up another batch of chickens for the freezer.  We've come to the decision that 19 chickens is a bit excessive so the next time Emily butchers, we're taking the old girls and the brown girls with us.  We're keeping the chicks - the speckled Sussex's - and of course John's favorite chicken, Taco.  Taco will most likely die of old age thanks to John.   The Spring chicks have just now started laying some nice brown eggs.  By next month we should be down to 7 chickens.  That just seems to make me a little less of the "crazy chicken lady".

Speaking of chicken, how 'bout a peek at this weeks menu:

Monday:  Grilled chicken, roasted potatoes and carrots.
Tuesday:  Spaghetti squash with red sauce, salad
Wednesday:  Sloppy joes and cornbread.
Thursday:  Grilled pork chops, fried cabbage, honey grilled carrots
Friday:  Pizza night
Saturday:  Breakfast for dinner
Sunday:  Pot roast with potatoes and carrots.

So, what's good at your place?
