Menu Plan Monday for March 26th

I know.  I know.  I was a little quiet this week.

My week ran away from me before I even knew it.  I had planned on going to the midnight showing of the Hunger Games with some friends and really, that was about it for the week.  Then I decided to work a little call for the hospital.  Then I got a couple of emails letting me know soccer was starting that week.  Then Ronnie needed me to do some things for the business that couldn't be put off.  All of a sudden, my week went crazy.

In case you're wondering, I liked the Hunger Games.  I was a little surprised at how violent the movie was.  I also wonder if you haven't read the books, if you'll understand what's going on.  I mean, it was a 2 1/2 hour movie with what was, well, not really cut out of it, but more like alluded to with flashbacks.  Point is, I liked it.  And I had a great time with my friends.

We did fair with trying to eat better last week.  I will tell you, I suffered by not making a plan.  Apparently, I can either plan to eat or plan to eat out.  I don't make that mistake very often, so I'm not going to beat myself up about it.  I'm just jumping back into menu planning.

This week has me working two days, on call the weekend, a meeting a church, two soccer practices and a birthday party on Saturday.  We're also going to Follies to watch my niece on Thursday.  I'm doing my best not to think about it.

Here's this weeks plan:

Monday:  BBQ chicken, baked potatoes and corn
Tuesday: Slow cooker shredded beef tacos and salad
Wednesday:  Grilled Tilapia, roasted potatoes and green beans.
Thursday:  Baked Spaghetti, salad and garlic bread.
Friday:  Steak, fried potatoes and salad.
Saturday:  Easter dinner at my Mother in Laws.
Sunday: Leftovers

Yes, I know it's not Easter.  My Mother in Law likes to have dinner early so we don't have to have two dinners in one day (my Mom, his Mom).  It actually is a lot more relaxing that way.  We're not rushing to get from one house to the next.  My guess is, I'll be bringing the rolls.  I'm good with that.

I'm going to try to do better at keeping up with you this week.

I liked Hunger Games as well. and I definitely think you should read the book before seeing the movie. Great menu this wee, Charli! I have not made mine yet. I guess I need to get off the computer and do that. Have a great week. ~Liz

Our #1 step out of processed food into whole foods was making breakfast. We just don't do cereal or packaged breakfast foods. It starts the day with good intentions that are easier to follow through with.

While we were never much for junk food this was a great start for our family. Baby steps!

I agree with Megan. It takes baby steps. The healthy eating thing can become overwhelming. Don't beat yourself up if you let the kids have cereal a day or two either. Sometimes rest comes first. When I do the healthy way of life, I immediately have to start lunch right after breakfast. I'm in the kitchen the whole morning and early afternoon. Then eat leftovers in the evening after Tim goes to work. I do find it more cost effective because the boys eat vitamins instead of all air, therefore they get full faster and it cost less.

Glad to see you back, I asked Tim about you today. I thought maybe you or the kids were sick.

Breakfast is what I'm having trouble with. I'm a little sick of oatmeal. I think I may try to freeze some banana bread or make an egg casserole to keep in the fridge. I may get up at 5:30 to get Ronnie to work, but I'm not the most productive. I still need easy at that hour!
