Menu Plan Monday for October 29th.

Hi guys!  I'm having a bit of a late start today.  Ronnie went back to work this morning and after he left, I actually went back to bed.  I have to admit, it was glorious!

This weekend has been a whirlwind.  Ronnie & the boys went camping about two hours away on Friday and came back late Saturday - in the exact same clothes they left in.  (Insert gagging sound here).  They smelled awful, but they had a lot of fun.

My menu plan - and my pantry challenge - have changed due to Hurricane Sandy coming up the coast.   I've mentioned before that our electric goes out if you fart cross eyed, so I revamped my plans and of course, ran to the evil empire this morning to stock up on milk, bread and water.

Here's the plan for this week:
Monday:  Roast chicken, baked potatoes and honey carrots
Tuesday:  Hot dogs and sauce, macaroni & cheese and peaches
Wednesday:  Pancakes, eggs and bacon.
Thursday:  Spaghetti with meat sauce, salad
Friday:  Chicken stir fry and rice.
Saturday:  Sandwiches and fruit.
Sunday:  Pizza - or leftovers.

If the electric is out an extended period, we have gas logs to heat our home and I can use the stove top to cook.  I am now regretting my decision to throw away our broken grill and wait until next Spring to replace it, but we'll survive.  Hopefully it's not as bad as expected for everyone.

So, what's your plans for the week?

Your menu sounds amazing once again. I like the roasted chicken idea. We are getting a pretty large amount of rain right now and the wind has picked up. However, the wind will get worse, no doubt. We can use our stove but not the oven should the power go out. I have a gas grill outside I can use as well.

I made 2 menus for the week...one for electric, and one without. Luckily our propane tank for the grill is almost completely full so we can use that. Jacob started the karosene heater (we've never lit it before), to make sure it worked ok and he made sure the drains were clear and re-dug the ditch so we didn't take on too much water. So we're ready for the worst.

Rachel, we've had steady rain since yesterday. I'm wondering when the wind will pick up here as well.
Lori, we used to use a kerosene heater but then we remodeled and changed the fireplace to gas logs. We'll all sleep in the living room if the electric goes out. They actually keep most of the downstairs pretty warm.
