As relaxing as last weekend was, this weekend was not.
Ronnie took Friday off to finish some projects at both the rentals and our home. While installing my new dishwasher, sink and garbage disposal, we ended up with a big old water leak in the main line coming in the kitchen. We were without water for part of the weekend. Surprisingly, it's not been that bad, in my opinion, mostly because of our Berkey. It holds a lot of water, so we haven't been without drinking water.
This week I'm picking up an extra day at UHC and I'm on call the next two weekends for home health. Why? Well, I had to have a $411 repair to the van on Thursday, in addition to our unexpected expenses with the water line. I need to replenish some funds. Also, seed catalogs will be out in January and we're going with heirloom seeds this year. We want to try starting our own plants instead of going to the nursery. While we'll spend a little bit more on our garden this year, it's worth it to know whats in your plants....and still cheaper than the grocery store.
I'm trying a couple of new recipes this week.
Monday: Steak, wilted salad, sweet potatoes
Tuesday: Baked Pierogi casserole, peaches, and salad
Wednesday: Roast chicken, applesauce, carrots
Thursday: Grilled tilapia, twice baked potatoes (from freezer), green beans
Friday: Alfredo, green beans and cheddar garlic biscuits
Saturday: Crock pot honey apple pork loin, sweet potatoes and applesauce.
Sunday: Leftovers or Broccoli Cheese soup.
If you've never had wilted salad, it is a treat. Ronnie's Aunt Pat makes it for us and it is fantastic.
We're starting our Christmas break this week, since it's only eight more days. Eight more days!

My water lines broke one year also when moving my sink and dishwasher. It happened just before my anniversary. I asked to go to a hotel to get a shower and spent then next day at Lowes to get water line supplies. Amazingly that is when Jadon learned to walk. He now loves his hometels.
